Terms of service
The plain-English terms that apply when you use this website, ask us for a quote, book a site visit, or have us install an EV charger or do electrical work.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract. Nothing in these terms or in our cancellation policy limits those rights.
1. Who you are dealing with
Voltcore Electrical ("Voltcore", "we", "us") is a sole-trader electrical contracting business (ABN 39 308 420 525) holding NSW electrical contractor licence 404533C (category: electrician) and carries $20 million public liability insurance. Our licensed electrician quotes and does the work; we do not pass your job to a subcontractor without telling you. Contact: admin@voltcoreelectrical.com.au.
These terms, our cancellation and refund policy and our privacy policy together form the agreement between you and us. If a quote we send you says something different, the quote wins for that job.
2. Quotes and estimates
- Starting prices. A "from" price on this website is the lowest price a job of that kind starts at. It is not a quote for your job.
- Your quote. The itemised quote we email you is a fixed price for the work described in it, based on the photos and answers you gave us and on the assumptions listed in it. It is valid for 30 days.
- What can change it. If, on the day, we find something the photos could not show, for example a switchboard with no spare capacity, asbestos, wiring that does not comply, a longer cable run than measured, or a supply that needs upgrading, we stop, show you, and give you the extra cost in writing. Nothing changes without your written OK. If you would rather not proceed, you pay only for work already done and any materials already bought for you that cannot be returned.
- Written contracts. Where the price of a job is more than $5,000 including GST, the NSW Home Building Act 1989 requires a written contract signed by both of us before work starts. We will send you one; your accepted quote forms part of it.
- Your information. You confirm that what you told us about the property is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you own the property or have the owner's permission for the work.
3. Site visits
A site visit is a visit by our licensed electrician who opens your switchboard, measures the run, discusses the charger with you and gives you an itemised quote on the day. Site visits are currently free: there is no fee to book one and nothing is charged if you do not go ahead. Changing or cancelling the visit is covered in our cancellation and refund policy.
4. Booking, card on file and payment
- Accepting a quote. You accept by clicking the link in your quote email and choosing an installation day. That forms the contract for the work in the quote.
- Card on file — no deposit. Where we supply the charger, we ask for your card when you accept, through Stripe. Nothing is charged at that point. The card is held only so we can charge the cancellation fee described in our cancellation policy if you cancel at short notice or nobody is home when we arrive. Install-only jobs need no card.
- The balance is invoiced when the work is complete and is due within 7 days, by card or bank transfer. We do not ask for progress payments on standard installations.
- Prices in quotes and on this website include GST unless a line says otherwise.
- Late payment. If an invoice is not paid within 30 days we may charge reasonable costs of recovering it. We will always contact you first.
5. Chargers we supply, and chargers you supply
- Chargers we supply are new, genuine, Australian-approved units bought from the manufacturer or an authorised distributor. Some are ordered in for your job; your quote shows the lead time, and your installation date allows for it.
- The manufacturer's warranty applies to the unit. We register it in your name where the manufacturer allows, and if the unit fails we run the warranty claim with the manufacturer for you.
- If you supply your own charger it must be new or in good working order, approved for use in Australia (RCM marked) and suitable for your supply. We install it with the same care, but we are not responsible for faults in the unit itself and cannot warrant it. If we find it unsafe or non-compliant we will tell you and will not connect it.
6. On the day
- Someone aged 18 or over needs to be home to give us access and to agree to anything unexpected.
- Please have the parking spot and the switchboard clear, and pets somewhere safe. Power to part of the home will be off for short periods while we connect the circuit.
- We leave the site tidy, take our rubbish, and send you a photo report of the finished work with test results.
- We lodge the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) that NSW law requires for every installation, and email you a copy.
- If our electrician considers a situation unsafe, we may pause the work until it is made safe. We will explain why and what it would take to continue.
7. Changing or cancelling a booking
Ring or email us as early as you can. The rules and any fees are set out in our cancellation and refund policy. If we have to move your booking, for example because of weather, illness or an emergency job, we call you first and there is never a charge.
8. Warranties and your rights
Consumer guarantees
The statement at the top of this page sets out your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. They apply automatically and we cannot exclude them.
Statutory warranties under the Home Building Act
Every contract for residential building work in NSW, including electrical work on your home, carries the warranties in section 18B of the Home Building Act 1989: that the work will be done with due care and skill and in accordance with the plans and specifications in the contract; that all materials will be good and suitable for their purpose and new unless stated otherwise; that the work will comply with the law; that it will be done with due diligence and within the time stated, or a reasonable time; and that it will result in a dwelling that is reasonably fit to live in where that is what the work is for. These warranties last 6 years for a major defect and 2 years for any other defect, from completion.
Our workmanship warranty
On top of that, we warrant our workmanship for 2 years from the date of installation. If anything we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it at no charge. This warranty does not cover damage caused by someone else working on the installation, by misuse, by an event such as flood, lightning or a supply fault, or faults in a charger you supplied. Manufacturer faults in a charger we supplied are handled through the manufacturer's warranty, which we manage for you.
9. What we are responsible for
We are responsible for the work we do and for the materials we supply, as set out above and in the law. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for problems caused by pre-existing faults in your home's wiring or switchboard that we were not engaged to fix, by the electricity network or your energy retailer, by the charger manufacturer's app, software or servers, or by work done by others. Where the Australian Consumer Law lets us limit our liability for a service, we limit it to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again. Nothing in this section reduces the consumer guarantees or the Home Building Act warranties.
10. Complaints and disputes
If something is not right, tell us first: admin@voltcoreelectrical.com.au. We acknowledge complaints within 2 business days and aim to resolve them within 10. If we cannot agree, you can contact NSW Fair Trading (nsw.gov.au/fair-trading, 13 32 20), which offers a free dispute resolution service for home building work, and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal can hear home building claims. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales.
11. Using this website
- The information on this site is general. Charging speeds, ranges and costs are typical figures; your car, your supply and your home decide the real numbers, which is why we quote each job individually.
- Do not attempt electrical work yourself based on anything here. In NSW, electrical wiring work must be done by a licensed electrician.
- The text, photos and design on this site belong to Voltcore or are used with permission. You may share links to it freely.
- Links to other sites, including manufacturers and payment providers, are provided for convenience; their content and terms are theirs.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version; the version in force when you accepted a quote is the one that applies to that job.
